I made two more squares for my new blanket over the weekend. I changed the colors around and I like it. Here are all three of them.

Weekend
It was a good weekend, sunny and warm and just the right mix between busy and relaxing.
There was grocery shopping and a trip to the farmer's market.
We finished planting the garden.
There was pizza on Saturday and the first lunch salad on Sunday (grilled chicken with homemade honey-mustard dressing).
There was a new cake recipe to be tried (minus the icing, we don't like things too sweet), definitely a keeper.
And there was reading and watching movies and some crochet as well, more about that tomorrow. We will not mention the allergy attacks and resulting headaches, that will be over in a few weeks.

Another blanket in the making
The long cold Winter has inspired me to make more blankets. So I started working on another crochet one. This time I am using the 'Gretchen' afghan square pattern and the yarn is Heartland from Lion Brand. I love the yarn and the way the first square turned out. Now I am asking myself if I should make all squares in the same color combination or if I should mix things up a bit. I am using four colors instead of five as in the original pattern.

New Socks
Well, sort of. The Easter Bunny left some money in my basket which I immediately turned into new yarn. I just love the greens in this yarn.

Meet Katie Kitty
She is part of a bigger project and available as a free pattern on Brooke Nolan's website.
I have not yet decided what to do with the little critters but several ideas are swirling around my head at the moment.

My April Heart
This is what the other cross stitch motive was too big for. This one is 5" tall and I really like how it turned out.

Monday Morning
My favorite time of the day. It was just me and the laundry and lots of birds in the back yard.
I made some progress on my new blanket over the weekend. This is how far I get with four balls of yarn.

A quick crochet project
While the bread dough was rising and the cheesecake was baking, I made this crochet doily. I used some worsted weight cotton yarn and it is just the right size for my Easter candy bowl. You can find the pattern here: Crochet Spot

Plan B
Well, the cross stitch project that is not meant to be (at least not at the moment) turned out to be way too big for what I had planned to do with it. On to plan B, find a smaller motive that does not take long to finish. Here it is, done this morning. What it will become I will show you next week.

What I am working on
We woke up to 29 degrees this morning. It looks like most plants in the garden are okay, only the lilac bush is a little unhappy, I hope it will recover. The sun is shining and the birds are singing and the cats are slowly coming out of the weird mood they were in all day yesterday.
With the better light conditions today I decided to (hopefully) finish an Easter cross stitch project that has been fighting me like none before, no idea why, maybe my eyes are not as good as they used to be or it was simply too dark even with the little extra craft light. I finally got the basket finished and will now fill it with colored eggs.

Rainy Day
It rained a lot today, the temperature has fallen into the 40s and we have a freeze warning for late night today and early morning tomorrow, yikes! So, today being the 15th of April (the Titanic sank 102 years ago), I spent the afternoon watching two old and very different from each other Titanic movies while framing my flowers.
The change in weather makes me very tired and unmotivated, I hope the sun will return soon, as do my cats.

Stacks of flowers
I wanted to know how many flowers I can make out of one ball of yarn and surprisingly I get one more from the pink yarn than from the purple one. They work up quickly and the pattern is easy to memorize. Perfect project for watching movies.
It's official - I hate ants!
The little stinkers got into the cat food container, freshly filled with cat food for at least 3 weeks. All lost. And we ditched the container as well, it is no good if it does not keep out the ants.
There are times when I am really thankful that the stores here are open on Sundays. We got new cat food and a new ant proof container and now there is ant bait everywhere, homemade, peanutbutter and borax. We always have ants in the house when it gets warmer but this year it is extreme, I think they want to make up for the long Winter. I really try to, if not like, at least respect all living things, but they have gone too far, now the war is on.

Meet Violet, the happiest bunny in the meadow
She was part of a fun sew/quiltalong hosted by sigisart in Germany. A lot of work, but such a cute result. I am happy that I took part and that I was able to finish in time.
