And so it begins ...

... the quietest time of the year, if you want it to be. Just tune out the world and do your own thing.
Yesterday I assembled this year's advent candles and I am happy with the result. I got inspired when I found a box of very old (think pre-move) white candles. The bowl and the candle holders were dug out and the greens come from our yard - cedar, boxwood and rosemary. The cats don't like the smell of the rosemary so they stay away from it. I'll still hide it during the night though, just in case.

Advent

Es treibt der Wind im Winterwalde
die Flockenherde wie ein Hirt
und manche Tanne ahnt wie balde
sie fromm und lichterheilig wird.
Und lauscht hinaus: den weißen Wegen
streckt sie die Zweige hin - bereit
und wehrt dem Wind und wächst entgegen
der einen Nacht der Herrlichkeit.

November Roses

So far it has been pretty warm for the season and my rose bush is still producing blooms.

Sweet Pea Afghan

It is finished and I am happy with it. It took me a while to get around to weave in all the ends, but now they are in and the blanket is ready to use. On to the next one (have I mentioned that I love making blankets?).

Another Square ...

... for a future charity blanket. This one is called "Nessa".

And here are all four together. I am using yarn left over from another project, but I am running out of it now and have to order more.

Crochet and Baking

I finally finished my Cat and Kitten Silhouette Afghan, it took a while because it is done in single crochet only. It is big and I am happy with it, so is MamaCat, whom I had to wrestle it from for the photo.

Yesterday I christened my new bundt cake pan with a pumpkin bundt cake that turned out great. I see a lot more of these in my future.

Scrape the Sky

That is the name of this scarf pattern. I finished it a while ago but it took me a while to figure out how to block it best. I used Knitpicks Palette yarn for it and I have enough left over to make another one with reversed colors.
