More Cat Beds

I have decided to make at least one bed per cat, so far I have 4 done and more yarn coming in for the rest. MamaCat has finally decided that she likes it after all, maybe she likes green better than black.

Another Finish

My "Project Peace" cowl was finished a while ago but there was no sunshine to take pictures in. So, here it is. Yarn is Patons Lace Sequin in Garnet.

Happy Winter Solstice!

Well, if the weather stays all Winter like it is today, you will not hear me complaining. Not very likely, but one can always hope. I have been a bit under the weather the last few days but I am feeling better today and here is this year's Yule Log. I used a different icing this time because I was not happy with the buttercream one last year. Seconds after I snapped the photo Mr. Moose grabbed one of the holly sprigs and made me chase him all the way into the bedroom. I love cats. Never a dull moment around here. Later I will make a big pot of mulled cider with various fruits in it and something sunny (yellow) for dinner.

Speaking of cats, there is a new kitty hanging out in my back yard, watching the bird feeder. It sure is pretty and not very shy. I wonder if new people moved into the neighborhood and it is their cat or if it was dumped. It does not look like a stray and does not seem to be hungry, I offered food twice and it did not accept it. For now I call it No. 9 (my cats are going to kill me if I bring in another one, but that is a different story).

Some recent finishes

I am trying a new pattern for my hats for the homeless shelter, it is called Dylan's Beanie. I like it, although the beginning is a little tricky, until it gets big enough to switch from DPNs to a circular needle.

Another Hipster Doily in Christmas colors.

And Miss Ruby Reindeer, the tea cozy.

Jahresdecke 2016 - Endspurt

I have made 13 blankets in various sizes this year but the official Jahresdecke 2016 was not finished. I lost interest when I discovered that I actually do not like the colors I am using in it. It will eventually be finished and donated but just not this year. I declare my Sweet Pea Afghan as Jahresdecke and the Cat and Kitten Afghan is my favorite blanket of the year.

And so it begins ...

... the quietest time of the year, if you want it to be. Just tune out the world and do your own thing.
Yesterday I assembled this year's advent candles and I am happy with the result. I got inspired when I found a box of very old (think pre-move) white candles. The bowl and the candle holders were dug out and the greens come from our yard - cedar, boxwood and rosemary. The cats don't like the smell of the rosemary so they stay away from it. I'll still hide it during the night though, just in case.

Advent

Es treibt der Wind im Winterwalde
die Flockenherde wie ein Hirt
und manche Tanne ahnt wie balde
sie fromm und lichterheilig wird.
Und lauscht hinaus: den weißen Wegen
streckt sie die Zweige hin - bereit
und wehrt dem Wind und wächst entgegen
der einen Nacht der Herrlichkeit.

November Roses

So far it has been pretty warm for the season and my rose bush is still producing blooms.

Sweet Pea Afghan

It is finished and I am happy with it. It took me a while to get around to weave in all the ends, but now they are in and the blanket is ready to use. On to the next one (have I mentioned that I love making blankets?).

Another Square ...

... for a future charity blanket. This one is called "Nessa".

And here are all four together. I am using yarn left over from another project, but I am running out of it now and have to order more.

Crochet and Baking

I finally finished my Cat and Kitten Silhouette Afghan, it took a while because it is done in single crochet only. It is big and I am happy with it, so is MamaCat, whom I had to wrestle it from for the photo.

Yesterday I christened my new bundt cake pan with a pumpkin bundt cake that turned out great. I see a lot more of these in my future.

Scrape the Sky

That is the name of this scarf pattern. I finished it a while ago but it took me a while to figure out how to block it best. I used Knitpicks Palette yarn for it and I have enough left over to make another one with reversed colors.

A new blanket in the making

My Sweet Pea Afghan is almost finished, the only thing left to do is weave in about a million ends. So I decided to start a new blanket. This one is called Summer Mosaic and the pattern is also by Julie Yeager. I made one of each of the elements and I think they look great.
