A Quilt for Mr. Moose

All my cats have their own quilts and knitted blankets. Today I made a quilt for Mr. Moose and started on his knitted blanket, which will take a while, I knit fast but not that fast. Looks like he is enjoying his new quilt.

I only managed to make one Christmas card, but I did get the presents finished that I had planned for this year.

New (and not so new) Projects for January

I have finally decided which projects to work on in January. There are some that are carry-overs from last year, so to speak, and a few brand new ones. Let us begin with the old ones.

I will continue and hopefully finish my monthly heart quilts, I made it to April last year and then it got too warm and my motivation went on a walkabout. So, I will continue with May in January.

The adorable advent animals will be continued, I am currently working on Cashmere Camel who is # 6.

I plan to hand quilt this wall hanging to hopefully turn it into a gift.

And now on to some brand new projects.

I plan to knit at least one pair of socks every month. This is the pattern and the yarn for the January pair.

I will crochet a cat shawl for myself

And I joined the Flood's Flock KAL for which I will knit Stonecrop, a garter stitch lace shawl, with yarn from my stash.

And last but not least I just discovered these adorable cross stitch kitties for each month and found them irresistible.

There will probably be a Christmas project along the way as well but I have not yet decided what it will be for this month. And there is a sweater and a scarf to finish.

These should keep me busy and out of trouble for a while.

Fixed and Finished

The first thing I did this morning was fix the mistake in yesterday's project, then I finished it into an ornament.

The dove heart stitchery was finished into a mini wall hanging.

I am pleased with how both of them turned out. I am still feeling a bit sore all over but it is not too bad.

Mug Rugs

I found myself in a bit of a mood during the past week, no idea why, maybe the seasons are changing a little too fast, but today I am feeling much better and I made two mug rugs that will become a gift.

She was part of a fun sew/quiltalong hosted by sigisart in Germany. A lot of work, but such a cute result. I am happy that I took part and that I was able to finish in time.

Done!

I finished the last of my March projects, the wall hanging for April.

I managed to work on all the things I planned to, the small ones are all finished, the kitchen curtains will take a little longer, I ran out of crochet thread and have to wait a little to get more of it. And I switched from knitting a shawl to knitting a scarf because I thought the yarn was not a good fit for the shawl. Considering everything else that went on, I am happy with what I have achieved.

Too late for the party

My little black cat missed this year's St. Patrick's Day Shenanigans due to inclement weather. But he is ready for next year.

My wall hanging for March is finished. I had to switch the two bottom corner squares because they did not meet my need for harmony, now I am happy with it.

March

March is a long month with plenty of time to be productive and creative and it signals the end of Winter (we hope). These are the main craft projects I hope to be working on:

And there is spring cleaning to be done, a garden to be prepared, a fence to be mended, seedlings to be started and spring vegetables to be planted. Not to forget cats to be groomed to reduce the amount of hair balls and make them look even prettier. Del will take a week of vacation to help with all that, we sure know how to have a good time, don't we?

What I am working on

The calendar wall hanging for March is almost finished.

After I finished my Mara shawl I decided to hold off on a new project for a bit and instead I picked up one that I started last year. I am knitting squares with different patterns in grey and dark blue for a blanket using some re-purposed yarn.

The next little cross stitch cat is finished and turned into a tiny (7" square) quilt .

Snow Day

We still have power and the snow is still falling. We spent most of the day watching movies and I finished my wall hanging for February.

MamaCat helped me with that, in her very unique way, as usual.

And here are a few more snow pictures from this afternoon. The snow that is falling now is wet and heavy.

Now it is time to put the soup for dinner on and bake some cheese muffins to go with it. And more knitting is on the program for tonight as well. I wonder if we will be able to get to the farmer's market this weekend.

Weekend

I broke the spell and did crafty things this weekend! Don't worry, I still cooked and baked as well.
I made a tiny quilt out of my Valentine's Day cat stitchery and turned a previously started applique and stitchery block into a lavender pillow, filled with lavender from my garden. It is also my heart for February.

The weather was so so, no rain, cold in the morning, warming up during the day. Although it still gets cold there is a noticeable shift in the seasons, the air feels softer, the days are getting longer on both ends now and some new green is poking through the soil in the garden. I am itching to get out and work in the garden even with snow in the forecast, I think I am getting cabin fever.

We watched some old movies and I knitted a bit more on my froggie socks, I have no idea why they take so long, must be the thin yarn.

Tomorrow is housework day and once I am done with all the chores it will be back to the sewing machine. MamaCat is fine again, the hairball must have shifted and she is back to her usual nutty self. That improved my mood tremendously and I am looking forward to a creative week.

First Finish of 2014

My little wall hanging for January is finished.

Friday Night with Friends

I need a little extra motivation to get me going on my projects every now and then, so I decided to join "Friday Night with Friends" hosted by Cheryll.
 Tonight was the first time of 2014 and I worked on the border for my January calendar wall hanging. Got it all finished and ready to be basted and quilted.

What I am working on - Sewing

These are the first three blocks from a 2013 BOM. Rather than putting all 12 together into a big quilt I will make small individual calendar quilts. I plan to make a border for each one that mirrors the pattern of the heart. I have not added any of the beads and sequins and I did all the applique by machine.

Another Finish

I finally got the wall hanging made from the "Leafing through the Year BOM" blocks finished. I am not completely happy with it because the stabilizer I used behind the stitchery is causing some wrinkles. Maybe I can try to iron them out.
