Weekend Project

This was actually last weekend's project. We put up a shelf (we had still wrapped from when we moved here in 2005) in the bedroom and got my stuffed penguins off the dresser.

Lilacs

Updated Easter Decoration

Some of the twigs in my Easter tree got a bit wilted and dry so I changed it a bit. Different vase, less twigs.

Ain't I Cute?

The latest newcomer in our backyard. She is a skinny little thing with an appetite like a lion.

April Decorating

Musings

Well, I finally got to visit the local yarn shop, not bad after three years, is it? As I stood there surrounded by all the pretty yarns I noticed two things.
Not a single one of them said "buy me". I think that was because I had a specific shade of blue in mind for my next project and it was not there.
The second thing I noticed is, buying such expensive yarns would go completely against my current life style, no matter how lovely they are. I would not buy myself a sweater that costs $80,- or more so why would I spend so much on yarn to make one with (I am a big girl and need a lot of yarn to make a sweater for myself). I just bought the needles I need to finish my current project (made from yarn that was $0.99 per ball on sale) and looked at a book that I have on my wish list.

Baking Day

It is still raining here and what used to be my garden is now a squishy jungle of weeds. Lots of work waiting for us once it stops raining. So, what better to do on a rainy day than baking. :)

Garlic bread for lunch.

Cranberry Orange Scones.

Granola.

Bread.

The house smells nice and we have some good stuff to eat.

Finished!

I finished my cotton sweater yesterday. The sleeves are a little long but it fits well otherwise.

A Rainy Day

An unhappy cat.

Fresh scones. Recipe here.

Vegetable seeds, ready to grow.

And a bit of knitting.

Finished!

My Vernal Equinox Shawl Surprise project is finished, it is huge and I had to drag it outside to get a picture of the whole thing. I like it.

This is what Del calls my remnant wrap. It is a crochet shawl made from leftover yarn to wear around the house, it also is rather big (but so am I). ;)

I am currently working on a cotton sweater for myself and I am making good progress.

Meet Frankie

The newest member of our backyard cats gang. He is still very shy and does not come anywhere near me, but he eats my food and sleeps in the mudroom.

More Signs of Spring and a Visitor

Our camellia is in full bloom and I decided to cut a couple of blooms for the vase. Miss Kitty thinks they are pretty (and they look tasty too).

The lilac bush has promising buds and I hope that we will not get any more hard frost.

When I stepped outside I spotted something unusual in the carport and when I went to check it out I found this. A tiny little snake.

The little brown cat took an immediate interest in it as well and was very disappointed when I took the new toy away. I carefully scooped it up with a small rake and took it to the other side of the garden where it slid happily into the grass. I like snakes.
