WIP Wednesday

Today I made the second set of blocks for the Christmas table runner and now I am playing around with EQ4 to find out whether I want cornerstones or not.
I also finished another afghan for the camp this week and because I had a ball of that yarn left I decided to make myself a scarf with it. I like how the color in the yarn forms a pattern of its own.
I have been fighting an early bout of Christmas blues, but I am feeling better now. This weekend we will put up the tree and decorate our home.
My Pens won the game last night and my favorite player scored his first two goals of this season. :)

Love those star blocks! Really nice work. Paper pieced? The afghan is pretty too; I am crazy for bright colors.

Thank you. Yes, the stars are paper pieced, I use the Sew Precise software for most of my paper pieced blocks.

Those star blocks are really beautiful!

So precise! Even if I paper pieced, I don't think I could make them look that good!

I love the scarf ... what kind of yarn was that last ball?

Your stars are so fantastic and I love the scarf you made for yourself, great colors.
What part of Austria did you come from? My paternal grandfather (Franz Ignatz Metzner) came from Wallern (Valla) in 1906; it's right on the Hungarian border. I'd love to visit there and see if there are still family members there.

The yarn is a Red Heart Super Saver brand, I don't remember the name of the color but since it was on closeout sale I guess it has been discontinued. I like using that yarn for the afghans because it gets really nice and soft after washing it.

I am originally from Vienna, the capital of Austria. A big city that just got too big and too overcrowded for me. I like it much better where I am now. :)
My dad's family is from the same province as your grandfather.
