It is a wee bit too hot to pose for pictures, so we are taking a summer break and will be back in a while.

Two Finishes
Despite the heat I was able to finish Kijani and Pimpelliese, they will keep my neck warm this Winter.

Another One
I have knitted 13 pairs of socks this year, I am ahead of my one pair a month plan and I can't stop. I love knitting socks and it really is too hot for bigger projects.

Around the Garden
The peppers are doing really well this year.
I planted delicata squash for the first time.
And the surviving sunflowers (neighborhood cat dug up the bed a couple of times) are starting to bloom.

Knitting, Picking and Making
I cast on a Ten Stitch Blanket with leftover sock yarn that is not enough to make another pair of socks. I must admit that I find the instructions a little baffling. There are 11 stitches on the needle on row one but I am supposed to knit 10 stitches in row two. So far I have been fudging it by knitting the first two stitches together and it seems to work.
I am finally getting some tomatoes, but unfortunately some of them have blossom end rot once again. I guess we had way too much rain recently and they did not like that.
I made another batch of fermented cucumbers and one batch of refrigerator bread and butter pickles, some of which have already been consumed.
The rain brought some relief from the heat but now it is warming up again and I find myself making iced tea by the gallon and watermelon margaritas for happy hour, heavy on the watermelon, light on the alcohol and oh so yummy.

Sunday Socks
One pair finished, the next one on the needles. I always knit one sock of each new yarn I get to see how it knits up and then knit the second one later.

Summer Knitting
Small projects knitted with thin yarn are the order of the day in the heat of Summer. My friend Claudia in Germany sent me 5 balls of gorgeous Opal sock yarn. I am using 4 of them for socks and the one with my favorite fall colors (bottom right) for a narrow shawl/scarf.
Here are my current knitting projects.
And, more socks, there are always socks on the needles. This pair is knitted in my favorite pattern - Pied Patronus - using another lovely Opal yarn (Hundertwasser series, Blinde Venus, I just love these colors).
In case anyone noticed the slightly different background - we have a new dining table, slightly longer but narrower then the old one and I love it.
